Suppose you want to create an order form in Claris Studio with some smart conditions to assist the persons who will fill in this form. Let us take as example the order form for the OpenC Custom Connectors.
It’s a game of hide and seek.
You want to know if the person who fills in the form, is either a representative of a business, or a private person.
- If the person chooses 'Business', only then the Studio form should show the 'Company name' field.
- If the person chooses 'Personal', the Studio form should keep the 'Company name' field hidden.
To create a simple Automation for this in the Form View in Claris Studio, please see the video link at the end of this blog, to see how you can do this.
It's OK to change your mind as often as you want.
Now here's the challenge: suppose a person who fills in the form, choses 'Business', and fills in a company name, and then this person changes mind, and selects 'Personal'.
The company name is being hidden now, as it should. But 'under water' the company name is still there and it will intrude your database with a value.
You decide you don't want that. So how do you make and keep the Business name field empty when 'Personal' is chosen?
You select the Company-name field and choose Automation. You can do this on the object itself, or on the right hand side in the Tab 'Automation'. Select 'Value'. Set the action to 'When Customer type Is Equal To 'Personal' then set the value to...'. Leave the value empty. Press Apply and test it.
