What does Remco think of this? “First of all: Bonkers! And second: I feel honored and humbled. Since OpenC became a Claris partner just 18 months ago, I have set out to pro-actively contribute and to engage with Claris partners. I explore and build solutions for real-life business cases, with all components of the Claris platform. I define Studio, Connect and FileMaker as a singular integrated development platform. I also share my vision and practical development experiences in Studio, with the people at Claris, both on a practical and on a conceptual level. I also believe that this enables OpenC to solve the very practical real-life challenges that my clients face, in an even more innovative and cutting-edge way. I see proof of that already.

OpenC clients are active in the European insurance and Insurtech industry, and in the inspection business. Creating real solutions for real problems, always have to go hand in hand with a high level of security, implementing new rules and regulations to maintain compliance, and with an active approach to manage risks and sustain accountability. Claris, an Apple company, has a forty year-long tradition in making sure they do everything to deliver a secure and compliant software development platform, and they do so in a very innovative and consistent way.

Anyway, let us get back to my Award story of this week. I’ll tell you, it was also a big surprise for me. Last year, at Claris Engage 2024, I had the opportunity to share my experience and enthusiasm about Claris Studio. Being a special guest in the session of Bridget Lumb and Angela Chen, my message was: every Claris partner has clients that need Studio. So start using it so that your clients benefit!
This year, 2025, I had a completely different goal: I came to Austin to quietly listen and learn as much as I can, from all these wonderful and experienced Claris partners and of course from the Claris people themselves. So with that goal in mind, I sat down together with the hundreds of other Claris partners from all over the world, in the audience. I really did not have any clue whatsoever that Claris-people had secretly nominated me and that the committee had decided to grant me this great honor. When Rick Kalman started his little intro-speech for the Rising Star Award 2024, I went from: ‘Okay, interesting start’, to ‘hey, that sounds familiar…’, to ‘noooo, that can’t be true right?’. But then Rick mentioned Romein, my son’s name. Only then, I knew for sure!

In this year’s edition of Claris Engage I was impressed by the pace of the practical innovative tools Claris is developing and offering to the community of Claris partners. And I have learned a lot, especially in the Artificial Intelligence sessions. There are already quite a number of highly experienced AI-experts in our Claris community. I can’t wait to learn more and put these new technologies into use to improve the business challenges our clients face, even further.
